Error; Upgrade Precheck Fails with networking_validation Error Reference Code C71FE5BE while upgrading VCF Identity Broker to 9.1

Issue/Introduction

When attempting to upgrade Identity Broker (vIDB),from version 9.0.2 to 9.1, the precheck fails during network validation.

• The following error appears in the UI:

Error An unexpected error occurred in step networking_validation. Reference Code: C71FE5BE. Please contact support with this reference code. Detail: Address: <vIDB_IP>, is not in the same subnet of VSP Cluster ########-####-####-####-############

Environment

• VCF 9.1
• Identity Broker 9.0.2

Cause

VCF 9.1 requires the Identity Broker to be hosted within the VCF Management Service Platform (VMSP). The error occurs if the legacy 9.0.2 instance resides on a subnet that is not aligned with the VCF Management Network.

Resolution

In order to pass the pre-check, the Identity Broker instance need to be migrated to the management network.

1. The KB below outlines options to achieve this;
   • Transition a VCF Identity Broker 9.0.x Instance to the VCF Services Runtime Environment
2. Once the migration is complete, the upgrade can be re-initiated.
