A vSAN object remains behind after a VM is deleted

Issue/Introduction

Virtual machine is deleted successfully from vCenter.

In the Virtual Objects view, objects associated with the VM remain visible.

- Entries similar to the below may be seen.

 

"VM name"
  VM (removed from Inventory)

    VM Home
      Type: Folder
      State: Healthy
      UUID: YYYYYYYY-YYYY-YYYY-YYYY-YYYYYYYYYYYY

    "Disk name.vmdk"
      Type: Disk
      State: Healthy
      UUID: XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX

Environment

VMware vSAN (All versions)

Cause

A minor interruption in communication may prevent all vSAN objects getting removed when a VM is deleted from vCenter.

Resolution

If you encounter this issue, open a Support Request with Broadcom Support to have a Support Engineer perform safe remediation of the objects.
