Error: "The requested operation will exceed the VDC's storage quota ..." when creating a snapshot

Issue/Introduction

• When attempting to create a snapshot in VMware Cloud Director, the operation fails with a storage quota error:
  
  The requested operation will exceed the VDC's storage quota: storage policy "####" has -4,389,272 MB remaining, requested 7,523,327 MB
  
  
• In the Provider Portal, the Storage Policy view for the Organization VDC shows Storage Used is greater than the Storage Allocation (Limit).

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.6.1

Cause

This issue occurs when the logical storage limit assigned to an Organization VDC storage policy is lower than the actual storage consumed.

Resolution

To resolve the issue, perform either of the below options:

1. Increase the Storage Policy's Allocation: Edit the Limit of a Storage Policy on a VMware Cloud Director Organization Virtual Data Center
2. Migrate Data off this Storage Policy to another Storage Policy: Migrate Storage Policy Entities Using the VMware Cloud Director Service Provider Admin Portal
