Management Edge Nodes missing from SDDC Manager inventory after VCF 9.1 upgrade

Issue/Introduction

• Management Edge nodes are visible and operational within VCF Operations.
• Management Edge nodes are absent from the SDDC Manager UI under Security > Password Management.
• Attempts to perform automatic password rotation for Management Edges fail because the nodes are not recognized in the inventory.

Environment

VCF 9.1.0.0

Cause

• This issue is caused by a failure to reconcile the management domain inventory after the VCF 9.1 upgrade.
• In VCF 9.x, the inventory state between VCF Operations and SDDC Manager requires a manual synchronization trigger to import and register NSX Edge node VMs into the SDDC Manager internal database if they were not automatically captured during the upgrade process.

Resolution

To resolve this inventory mismatch, perform a manual synchronization via the VCF Operations interface:

1. Log in to the VCF Operations UI.
2. Navigate to Operate > Inventory.
3. Select the Management Domain.
4. Click the ACTIONS menu and select Sync Inventory.
5. In the configuration pop-up, select the checkbox: Enable Edge cluster sync and import NSX Edge node VMs.
6. Scroll down and select the I acknowledge checkbox.
7. Select SYNC INVENTORY.
8. Once the task completes, navigate to SDDC Manager UI > Security > Password Management to verify the nodes are now visible.
9. Test the functionality by attempting a password rotation on the newly inventoried Edge nodes.
