Error: "Use an Encryption Storage Policy to migrate." when migrating an encrypted virtual machine

Issue/Introduction

The following error appears in the migration UI during an HCX Migration.

• ❗ Virtual machine <Virtual Machine Name> is encrypted. Use an Encryption Storage Policy to migrate.

Environment

VMware HCX

Cause

An error occurs when migrating an encrypted virtual machine if a storage policy with encryption disabled is selected for the Destination Storage.

Resolution

1. Open the Mobility Group edit screen.
2. Select the target datastore.
3. Under "Select Storage Profile", select a storage profile with encryption enabled.
