NSX Manager upgrade to NSX 4.2.3.3 fails with a UC version mismatch error

Issue/Introduction

• After an NSX Manager upgrade failure, or during a retry attempt, the following error can be output:
  

  Pre-upgrade checks failed for MP: UC is not updated on node <node_name>-<node_ip>. Please upload the upgrade bundle and upgrade UC on one of these nodes to ensure the version of UC is same across all MP nodes.

• The upgrade is being performed using files with differing build numbers, such as VMware-NSX-upgrade-bundle-4.2.3.3.0.25171318.mub and VMware-NSX-upgrade-bundle-4.2.3.3.0.25445278-pre-check.pub.

Cause

• There is no problem as long as it is a combination of the mub file and pub file downloaded by selecting the specified version from the Support Portal.
• The error output upon the NSX Manager upgrade failure does not indicate the actual root cause of the upgrade failure.
  • For example, this error can occur if the NSX Manager upgrade fails with KB#433731 as the root cause. The UC version mismatch error itself does not indicate the cause, and KB#433731 needs to be addressed.
  • This error can also occur if the NSX Manager upgrade fails due to other issues besides KB#433731.

Resolution

Investigate the actual root cause of the failure, resolve the underlying issue, and then retry the NSX Manager upgrade.
