VMware Site Recovery Manager

Issue/Introduction

When you plan an upgrade to VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9, you may find that legacy names such as "Site Recovery Manager" (SRM) or "VMware Live Site Recovery" (VLSR) do not appear to have direct compatibility entries for vCenter Server.

Environment

  • VMware Cloud Foundation 9.x
  • VMware Live Site Recovery (VLSR) 9.x
  • VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM) 8.x

Cause

Broadcom consolidated these products under the Protection and Recovery category in the Product Interoperability Matrix. This category includes all historical version data for SRM and VLSR.

Resolution

To find compatibility information for all versions of site recovery and replication products, follow these steps to use the consolidated category:

  1. Go to the .
  2. Search for and select Protection and Recovery in the Select a Product field.
  3. Verify the consolidated view displays the following:
    • Protection and Recovery 9.1
    • VMware Live Site Recovery (9.0.x versions)
    • VMware Site Recovery Manager (8.x and earlier versions)
  4. Select the version that matches your environment to view compatible vCenter Server releases.

Additional Considerations

  • Appliance Convergence: Protection and Recovery uses the converged appliance model introduced in VLSR 9.0.3.
  • vVols Support: vSphere Virtual Volumes (vVols) are deprecated in VCF 9.0. Migrate existing vVols replications to array-based replication before you upgrade to Protection and Recovery 9.1.
