Issue/Introduction

This article explains the expected behavior for AppNeta Monitoring Point (MP) availability alerts and provides steps to ensure notification profiles are correctly synchronized.

Environment

  • AppNeta SaaS
  • All Monitoring Point models

Cause

  1. Built-in Delay: By design, email notifications for "MP Connection" events are only sent if the device remains unavailable for 90 minutes or more.
  2. Sync Issue: Newly created Monitoring Points or updated notification profiles may occasionally fail to sync with the alerting engine immediately.

Resolution

To ensure alerts are received for Monitoring Point connectivity events:

  1. Observe the 90-minute threshold: Notifications are sent 90 minutes after the initial disconnect. Tests shorter than 90 minutes will not trigger an email.

  2. Force Profile Synchronization:
    • Navigate to Alerts > Notification Profiles.
    • Locate the profile assigned to the Monitoring Point.
    • Open the profile and click Save (even if no changes were made). This forces a refresh of the synchronization state.
  3. Verify Configuration:
    • Ensure the Monitoring Point is assigned to an Alert Profile with MP Connection events enabled.
    • Confirm a Delivery Group is attached to that Alert Profile.
    • Check the Monitoring Point status page to ensure the device is not Muted (bell icon with a slash).
