Federated segment port count shows zero on one Local Manager while Global Manager shows ports in NSX

Issue/Introduction

• In an NSX Federation environment, the Global Manager (GM) UI shows a port count for a segment.
• One Local Manager (LM) shows "0" ports for the same segment.
• Another Local Manager in the same Federation shows the correct count .

Environment

• VMware NSX 4.x

Cause

This is expected behavior. The Global Manager provides a global view of all realized ports across all Local Managers. A specific Local Manager only displays ports that are locally realized on its transport nodes.

Resolution

No action is required. To verify the port locations:

1. Log in to the Global Manager UI.
2. Navigate to Networking > Segments.
3. Select the segment and view the Ports/Interfaces list.
4. Note the Location/Local Manager column to identify which LM is hosting the ports.
5. Log in to that specific Local Manager to see the matching port count.
