Issue/Introduction

In a VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9.1 environment, the password policy configuration interface may display an operational status of "Not Compliant".

Clicking on the affected policy reveals the failure details indicating the policy is not assigned.

Environment

VMware Cloud Foundation 9.1.x

Cause

This condition occurs because the infrastructure components lack an active or initialized compliance baseline evaluation. The password policy engine requires an initial administrative trigger to propagate and anchor the policy settings across the VCF components.

Resolution

To resolve this issue and transition the policy status to "Compliant", a manual compliance check and remediation cycle must be executed:

  1. Log in to the VMware Cloud Foundation management interface.
  2. Navigate to VCF Operations > Manage > Fleet Management > Passwords.
  3. Identify the policy reporting "Not Compliant".
  4. Trigger a manual Compliance Check.
  5. Once the check completes, select Remediate to enforce the policy across the components.
