This article provides guidance for administrators transitioning from VMware Aria Operations for Logs 8.18.x to VCF Log Management 9.1. It clarifies the deployment procedure, prerequisites, and the integrated management structure within VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9.1.

Resolution

In VMware Aria Operations 9.1,Log Management is integrated as part of the VCF Management Services. This integration changes how you deploy and manage the product:

  • Lifecycle management activities for Log Management, including upgrades, patching, and cluster management, are performed directly from the VCF Operations 9.1.x interface. 
  • Log management is deployed using the VCF Installer Deployment Wizard as part of a new VCF Fleet or instance deployment.

Log Management in 9.1 is a core VCF Management Service,  to successfully transition from version Aria Operations for Logs 8.18.x, follow these steps:

  1. Review the Planning and Preparation Workbook to define the necessary network and FQDN requirements for VCF Management Services.
  2. Verify VMware VCF Operations is upgraded to version 9.1.x and the License Server is deployed. Overview of VCF Deploy, Converge, and Upgrade
