VCF Automation 9.0.x missing from VCF Fleet Management during VCF 9.1 upgrade

Issue/Introduction

After upgrading to VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9.1, the VCF Automation component 9.0.x does not appear in the VCF Operations Fleet Management list. This state blocks the upgrade of VCF Automation to version 9.1 even if other management runtime components are deployed.

NB: this can not be used to import VCFA 9.1.x systems in VCF Operations.

Environment

• VMware Cloud Foundation Operations 9.1
• VCF Automation 9.0.x

Cause

The automated inventory migration fails to register legacy VCF Automation nodes into the new Kubernetes-based VCF Management Services (VMSP) & VCF Fleet Management. This often occurs due to synchronization gaps or credential mismatches during the VCF Operations upgrade phase.

Resolution

To manually import VCF Automation to perform upgrade to 9.1, Please follow these steps.

1. Log in to VCF Operations.
2. Navigate to Build > Lifecycle > VCF Management > Components.
3. Click Add Component.
4. Select VCF Automation from the component list.
5. Choose Import 8.x appliance (it works for both 8.x and 9.0.x)
6. Add FQDN, and then you have to put the root password (for Aria Automation 8.x) or vmware-system-user password (for VCF Automation 9.0.x)
