Upgrade IPC from 15.0 to 15.1

Issue/Introduction

This article provides the necessary documentation links and steps for upgrading IPC from version 15.0 to 15.1, including prerequisites and post-installation requirements for CICS.

Environment

• IPC 15.0 
• z/OS
• CICS Transaction Server

Resolution

To upgrade to IPC 15.1, follow these steps:

1. Review the README for IPC 15.1 for any "z/OS New Install/Upgrade" specific warnings.
2. Save your existing PSS and SCF options using the PRINT SCREEN command for SET COMMAND SITE (SCF#OPTIONS) and SET OUT SITE (PSS#OPTIONS). The upgrade resets these to defaults.
3. Choose your installation method: z/OSMF or SMP/E JCL. Make sure to install all published IPC PTFS before running the next step.
4. Run the Customization Phase jobs (VQCUS00, VQCUS01, VQCUS02) in the INSTJCL library.
5. Run the IPC upgrade job VQUPG01. See Upgrade Installation Phase . 
6. Perform the Post-installation Phase, including updating the CICS DFHRPL concatenation with IPC 15.1 CUSLIB and CAVQLOAD.
7. Refresh CICS CSD definitions using INSTJCL job VQCICS. Note that IPC 15.1 includes new CICS TS 6.4 interface modules (VPEHJE76 and VPEHJN76) and prior version modules . 
8. Reapply Options: Rebuild your PSS Destination Table and restore your customized SCF and PSS settings as they were reset to default values during the upgrade. 
9. Run the IPCV verification transaction in CICS.
