Issue/Introduction

  • BFD flapping between a worker node and DC gateway on Cisco ACI was observed at random intervals resulting in loss of data traffic
  • During BFD flaps on application VM (worker node), simultaneous BFD flaps were observed on TEP interfaces of all the ESXi hosts connected with cisco leaf switches

Environment

NSX 4.2.1.4

TCP 5.0

Cause

This is a 3rd party issue where a software bug related to the interaction between the leaf switches and the drivers of the INNOLIGHT manufactured SFPs

Resolution

Check with the network vendor (Cisco) for the possible reason of a software bug related to the interaction between the leaf switches and the drivers of the INNOLIGHT manufactured SFPs and if any other underlying physical network issue that resulted in the BFD flaps between TEP interfaces of ESXi hosts and also BFD flaps between application and DC gateway
