Issue/Introduction

When using the Bar/Column Chart Configuration widget in Rally Custom Views, the data displayed in the chart does not match the actual inventory of items. This occurs specifically when the chart is configured to aggregate or stack data by Release.

Symptoms:

  • Hovering over a bar (e.g., "Idea" state) shows a different count (e.g., 3 items) than the list displayed when clicking the bar (e.g., 4 items).
  • The widget appears to pull data from a single project rather than the entire scoped hierarchy.
  • Removing the "Stack By Release" option causes the numbers to calculate correctly.

Environment

  • Rally SaaS
  • Custom Views Interface

Cause

This issue was caused by a product defect in the Bar/Column Chart widget's calculation logic when processing stacked release data.

Resolution

Fixed in Rally SaaS production release (July 2026).

Recommendation:

  1. Open the Custom View containing the affected widget.
  2. Verify that the "Stack By Release" option is enabled.
  3. Confirm that the hover count now matches the drill-down list count.

Additional Information

If you continue to see inconsistent results after the fix, try clearing your browser cache or recreating the Custom View page as a secondary troubleshooting step.
