Unable to assign licenses from different Site IDs to a single VCF instance

Issue/Introduction

In VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), users are unable to assign licenses originating from two different Site IDs to a single VCF instance. If a VCF instance comprises of multiple SDDC sites and VCF instance is assigned to Site 1, a license originating from Site 2 cannot be applied directly to the instance.

Environment

VMware Cloud Foundation 9.x

Cause

A VCF instance can only be assigned to a single Site ID tenant, preventing the direct application of licenses that originate from a different, unassociated Site ID.

Resolution

1. Verify that the license type is Split.

2. Log in to the VCF Business Services console (vcf.broadcom.com).

3. Under License Management, navigate to Version 9+ Licenses.

4. Click the vertical ellipsis next to the target license from the secondary Site ID.

5. Select Share with Another Tenant and specify the primary assigned Site ID tenant.

6. Verify the successful confirmation message: "License <license-name> has been successfully shared with tenant-name. You can view the shared licenses in the Shared with Others tab."

7. Add the newly shared license to VCF Operations and assign it to the other site within the VCF instance.
