Issue/Introduction

  • While integrating a new vCenter Server with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) Operations, the cloud account creation process fails if one of the configured Fault Domains is down or offline.
  • When attempting to add the cloud account using the Default / Cloudproxy Collector Group while a Fault Domain is down, the application logs the following specific symptoms and error strings:
Failed to send task to Collector with id: X
    Cannot perform operation.
VC extensions info check task failed

Environment

VCF Operations 9.1

Cause

The VCF Operations fails to process tasks sent to the collector group when a cluster has Continuous Availability enabled and an associated Fault Domain is unavailable.

Resolution

A fix will be made available in upcoming release of VCF Operations 9.1.x

To work around this behavior, ensure that all Fault Domains (e.g., Fault Domain 1 / FD1) and their associated nodes are fully powered on, healthy, and has completed any internal system failover processes before attempting to create the vCenter Cloud Account.
