Issue/Introduction

  • VCF Health's PSOD tile shows a Critical alert for a vSAN Witness ESXi 9.1 host
  • There is no evidence of a PSOD on the ESXi host and no core dump files have been created in /var/core on the host.
  • Selecting 'More Details' on the alert in VCF Health shows:
    • No PSOD occurred in the last 14 days
    • A red banner indicating "A critical status might also flag misconfiguration of the core dump file" referencing KB-317689.

Environment

  • VCF Operations 9.1
  • VMware vSphere ESXi 9.1

Resolution

Stop and Start collection on the VCF Adapter Instance that is collecting from the affected ESX host.

The workaround described in KB-317689 cannot be applied as an ESX Witness host does not have a datastore by design.

Open a Broadcom support case if the alert does not clear after the stop/start.
