Service Virtualization

Issue/Introduction

When creating a Virtual Service (VS) using Request/Response (RR) pairs in the DevTest Portal, users are unable to modify or update the Base Path field after the service has been initially created and saved.

The Base Path field appears non-editable following the initial save, preventing users from making post-creation corrections or updates to the path.

Environment

All supported DevTest Environments

Cause

During the initial Virtual Service creation workflow, if the Target URL under the Transport Protocol section is not populated before saving, the Base Path is not captured correctly by the Portal. This results in the field becoming uneditable in subsequent sessions.

Resolution

Follow this specific workflow to ensure the Base Path is captured correctly and remains editable after creation.

Step 1 — Initial Creation

  1. Begin creating a new Virtual Service using Request/Response (RR) pairs in the DevTest Portal
  2. Configure the Transport Protocol section, enter the Target URL and Port before proceeding
  3. Complete all remaining setup steps
  4. Click Save to create the Virtual Service

Important: Entering the Target URL and Port before the first save is required. Skipping this step causes the Base Path to become non editable.

Step 2 — Post-Save Modification

  1. Once the Virtual Service is successfully saved, navigate back to Manage Virtual Services.
  2. Open the VS for editing
  3. The Base Path field will now be editable
  4. Modify the Base Path as required
  5. Save the changes
