Issue/Introduction

An issue exists in the Automic Web Interface (AWI) where an Agent (HOST) object allows an Archive Key 2 value to be saved with more than 20 characters without a validation error. However, when this Agent is added to an Agent Group (HOSTG) object, the group object fails to save and returns a generic "invalid" error. This occurs because the 20-character limit is enforced during the group save operation but not during the initial agent configuration.

Symptoms

  • Saving an Agent Group (HOSTG) results in a generic "invalid" error.
  • The error provides no specific hint regarding the Archive Key length violation.
  • The issue only occurs when adding Agents that have an Archive Key 2 length exceeding 20 characters.

Environment

Environment

  • CA Automic Workload Automation - Automation Engine
  • Component: Automic Web Interface (AWI)
  • Versions: 24.4.2 and earlier

Resolution

Workaround

To resolve the error, ensure the Archive Key 2 value does not exceed the character limit:

  1. Navigate to the Administration perspective in the AWI.
  2. Open the impacted Agent (HOST) object.
  3. Select the General tab.
  4. Locate the Archive Key 2 field.
  5. Reduce the string length to 20 characters or fewer.
  6. Save the Agent object.
  7. Open the Agent Group (HOSTG) object and attempt to save again.

Resolution:

This issue is already  fixed in the following releases:

  • Automic Automation 24.4.4hf2
  • Automic Automation 26.1.0
