How to Re-establish Trust in TCA Post vCenter Server Certificate Renewal

Issue/Introduction

Steps to be performed on TCA after a vCenter Server certificate renewal or modification.

 

Environment

VMware Telco Cloud Automation (TCA) 3.4, VMware Telco Cloud Platform 5.1

Cause

When a vCenter Server certificate is renewed or changed, the trusted certificate within TCA must be updated across multiple locations. This ensures that TCA and any linked CaaS clusters can continue communicating with the vCenter without disruption.

Using the Connected Endpoints feature, you can update the trusted vCenter certificate on TCA and linked CaaS clusters in a single click. This operation is supported for VMware vCenter Server-based endpoints configured via TCA Appliance Management.

Resolution

Steps to Re-establish Trust

1. Log in to the VMware Telco Cloud Automation (TCA) portal.

2. Navigate to Connected Endpoints.

3. Identify the entry for the VMware vCenter server that requires a certificate update.

   • Note: The status of the vCenter will display as Untrusted or Modified due to the recent certificate change.

4. Click the vertical ellipses menu (⫶) on the vCenter record and select Re-establish Trust.

   • Alternative: You can click the Re-establish Trust button highlighted directly in the status message.

5. Thoroughly Review the TCA appliances and the clusters that will be impacted by this operation. Click Next.

6. Input the new trusted certificate, or accept the pre-populated certificate.

   • Tip: You can use the FETCH LATEST CERTIFICATE button to update the pre-populated certificate if necessary.

7. Click Accept to initiate the update.
