Issue/Introduction

Users may encounter failures when running a Data Model scan or performing a PII Audit Process in TDM Portal. This issue typically presents the following symptoms:

  • The scan fails specifically on SQL Server environments (e.g., SQL 2012, 2017).
  • The issue occurs after upgrading TDM Portal from version 4.10 to 4.11.x.
  • Scans that previously completed successfully before the upgrade now fail.
  • Logs may indicate TDMDatabaseException or Failed to obtain JDBC Connection during the profiling phase.

Environment

  • Product: CA Test Data Manager (TDM)
  • Component: TDM Portal / PII Audit & Scan
  • Version: 4.11.5027.0
  • Database: SQL Server (Source/Repository)

Cause

A product defect in TDM Portal version 4.11.5027.0 affects how backend database connections or credentials are handled during the PII profiling and data model scanning process for SQL Server.

Resolution

This issue is resolved in TDM Portal build version 4.11.5034 and later maintenance releases.

Steps to Resolve:

  1. Download the Latest Build: Access the  page.
  2. Apply the Update: Upgrade the TDM Portal to version 4.11.5034 or higher (e.g., 4.11.5052.0).
  3. Restart Services: After the installation, restart the TDM Portal services.
  4. Validation: Re-run the Data Model scan and PII Audit Process to confirm successful completion.
