Issue/Introduction

You are unable to add specific interfaces to a group using the quick filter lookup. While the interfaces are visible in the system inventory, searching for them in the Group section results in the wrong device being populated or no results appearing at all.

Environment

All supported DxNetOps Performance Management releases

Cause

This issue occurs due to the View Item Name Alias Only role right assignment. When this restriction is active, the system bypasses searching the ItemName attribute and instead queries the AlternateName schema layer. If an alternate name (Name Alias) is modified or non-unique, the quick filter lookup fails to identify the correct item.

Resolution

You must remove the specific restriction from the assigned user role to restore standard search functionality.

  1. Navigate to Role Administration: Access the administration console and edit the Administrator role (or the specific role impacted) under DX NetOps.
  2. Enable Modification Mode: Click the configuration slider to allow edits to the role permissions.
  3. Filter Rights: In the permissions pane, filter the available rights using the keyword item to narrow the list.
  4. Modify Permissions: Locate the View Item Name Alias Only permission right and REMOVE it.
  5. Save Changes: Click Save to apply the updated permissions.
  6. Validation: Test the quick filter functionality in the Group section to confirm you can now find and add the desired interfaces.

Audit Recommendation

You should audit other active system roles to determine if they share this same restriction. Apply the same adjustment to any role where quick filter lookup consistency is required.
