Issue/Introduction

Users of Automation Analytics & Intelligence (AAI) may encounter an error when attempting to add or modify alert criteria within an SLA definition. This article describes why the "Failed to update alert criteria" error occurs and how to resolve it via permission updates.

Symptom: When adding an alert to an SLA (e.g., ####_box), the following error appears: Failed to update alert criteria

The AAI REST API shows the error messagebelow.

Environment

  • Automation Analytics & Intelligence (AAI) version 24.x
  • Embedded Entitlements Manager (eEM)

Cause

The authenticated user, typically an eEM-defined user, does not have the necessary permissions within the eEM Policy for the AAI Application to edit the specific jobstream or SLA definition.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, perform one of the following:

  1. Log in to the AAI thick client or web UI using the internal AAI admin user account.
  2. Modify the Deadlines and Rules of the impacted jobstream.
  3. If eEM users must perform this task, update the eEM Policy for the AAI application to grant "Modify" or "Full Access" permissions to the impacted user or group for the relevant jobstream resources.
