Issue/Introduction

  • When navigating to Fleet Management-->Lifecycle-->VCF Instances and selecting a specific VCF instance, the following error is displayed:

    Service or view is not available for the selected object.

  • Additionally, when selecting the management domain under this VCF instance, the following error occurs:

    Domain not configured.
    Please configure the domain to use this capability.

  • The VCF Operations was initially deployed in the environment and later integrated into VCF using the VCF installer.
  • When checking Administration-->Integrations in VCF Operations, the vCenter Server for the management domain is listed as a separate, independent account rather than being attached underneath the main VCF account.

Environment

VMware Cloud Foundation 9.0.x

Cause

The VCF account is not properly integrated into VCF Operations, which breaks data collection for the VCF instance.

In a standard deployment, only the primary VCF account (configured with the SDDC Manager FQDN) needs to be explicitly added to VCF Operations. Component accounts, such as vCenter, NSX-T, and vSAN, should be automatically attached as sub-accounts underneath this master VCF account. When vCenter is added as a standalone integration, the parent-child hierarchy breaks, resulting in display and configuration errors.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, the misconfigured accounts need to be removed and reconfigured:

  1. Log in to the VCF Operations user interface.
  2. Navigate to Administration-->Integrations.
  3. Locate both the standalone vCenter account and the VCF account.
  4. Delete both accounts from the integrations page. Ensure the "delete related objects" option is NOT selected.
  5. Re-add the VCF account manually using the correct SDDC Manager FQDN or trigger an inventory sync from VCF Operations to automatically rediscover.
