VCF Operations VMware Cloud Foundation

Issue/Introduction

  • The Software Depot status remains Disconnected despite an online connection attempt.
  • No access logs from the VCF Service Runtime hosts appear on the proxy server.
  • Reissuing activation codes or editing /etc/sysconfig/proxy on individual hosts does not resolve the connectivity issue.

Environment

VMware Cloud Foundation 9.1

Cause

In VCF 9.1, management services components such as fleet and the Software Depot service are separated into independent services. Configuring the proxy within the VCF Operations global settings (Administration > Global Settings > Network Settings) only applies the configuration to the VCF Operations application itself. It does not automatically propagate to the underlying VCF management services components or the proxy-forwarder used by these services.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, you must separately configure the proxy settings for the VCF management services components.

Prerequisites

  • Ensure you have the proxy server's FQDN/IP and port information.
  • Verify that the proxy server allows traffic to the Broadcom/VMware software depots.

Steps

Detailed procedural steps and specific UI paths can be found in the technical documentation:
