VDS Flow Collection settings do not persist after upgrade to VCF Operations for Networks 9.1.0

Issue/Introduction

• After upgrading to VCF 9.1, Network and Flow settings in VCF Operations do not persist.
• Selecting a VDS for flow collection results in the VDS becoming unselected after saving.
• vCenter data source shows "VCF Managed" in Operations for Networks, but settings are not reflected.
• Flow processor logs show Raw Ipfix Record Rejection Stats: DATA SOURCE DISABLED. These logs is located at /var/log/arkin/flow-processor/ on the collector appliance.

Environment

• VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9.1.0
• VCF Operations for Networks 9.1.0

Cause

This behavior occurs due to a configuration mismatch or conflicting IPFIX ownership. VCF 9.1 requires that IPFIX settings on the VDS be managed strictly through the VCF Operations for Networks integration. Manual settings in vCenter or pre-existing configurations from a prior version can cause the management workflow to fail or revert.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, you must synchronize the IPFIX state by performing the following steps:

1. Disable NetFlow (IPFIX) collection in VCF Operations GUI:
   
   
   1. In the left-hand navigation pane, go to Administration and select Integrations.
   2. Click the Edit Source Option. Edit existing Source (vCenter).
   3. Click 3 dots (vertical ellipsis) to edit.
   4. Under section Network Operations>Networks & Flows uncheck Active Networks and Flow.
   5. Ensure you see the Collector selected as your Network Operations for Networks Collector.
   6. Uncheck Enable Netflow (IPFix) on this vCenter.
   7. Click Save or Submit to finalize the integration.
   8. Wait for 40-50 minutes.
   
   
   
2. Enable NetFlow (IPFIX) collection in VCF Operations GUI:
   
   
   1. In the left-hand navigation pane, go to Administration and select Integrations.
   2. Click the Edit Source Option. Edit existing Source (vCenter).
   3. Click 3 dots (vertical ellipsis) to edit.
   4. Under section Network Operations>Networks & Flows check Active Networks and Flow.
   5. Ensure you see the Collector selected as your Network Operations for Networks Collector.
   6. Check Enable Netflow (IPFix) on this vCenter.
   7. Click Save or Submit to finalize the integration. 
      
      
   
   
3. Validation of flows :
   
        1. Wait 20–30 minutes for the polling cycles to complete.
        2. Verify that the VDS remains selected in the UI and that flows begin populating in the Flows dashboard.
        3.  Navigate to VCF Operations for Networks GUI and you should now see the flows populated.
