vCenter precheck fails with 'localhost' hostname during certificate change

Issue/Introduction

Attempting to change the Aria Operations for Logs certificate from Aria Suite Lifecycle fails its precheck due to the hostname for the VM displaying as localhost in the vCenter.

Environment

Aria Operations for Logs 8.18.x

Cause

vApp properties are a VMware vCenter Server function and are stored in the vCenter database. During replication—whether array-based or vSphere Replication—VMs are replicated using their respective VMX file and VMDKs, which do not contain vApp property information. As a result, vApp properties cannot be replicated using VMware Live Recovery.

Resolution

1. In the vCenter UI, shutdown the affected Operations for Logs VMs and then go to Configure > Settings > vApp Settings.
   
   
2. Select Edit and add the values as follows:
   
   
3. Under IP Allocation Tab:
    a. Authoring, IP Protocol IPv4, IP Allocation Scheme, OVF Environment.
    b. Under Deployment, IP Protocol IPv4, IP Allocation Static - Manual.
   
   
4. Under the OVF Details Tab:
    a. OVF environment transport, select VMTools. Installation boot has no entry.
   
   
5. Power on the VM.
   
   
6. Retry the certificate change from Aria Suite Lifecycle.
