Issue/Introduction

Deleting a vSphere namespace does not delete its associated NSX Tier-0 gateway or edge cluster resources

Environment

  • VMware vSphere Kubernetes Service (VKS)
  • VMware NSX

Cause

  • This is expected behavior when vSphere namespace deletion takes place
  • NSX Tier-0 gateway and edge cluster resources are manually created and managed by the administrator and they are not dynamically provisioned by the supervisor control plane
  • During a namespace deletion event, the VKS process to clean up is purposefully limited to the logical routing components it created such as the Tier-1 Gateway or specific load balancers

Resolution

Manually remove the NSX Tier-0 gateway and edge cluster resources if they are no longer being used
