Error: Abend S66D RC8 in OSF TSO tasks after z/OS 2.5 maintenance - OPS/MVS

Issue/Introduction

OPS/MVS OSF TSO tasks abend with S66D RC8 during initialization on z/OS 2.5 environments following the application of IBM maintenance.

Environment

• Maintenance: IBM PTF UJ99596 applied

Cause

IBM PTF UJ99596 (APAR OA69551) introduces a requirement where tasks executing the TSO Terminal Monitor Program (IKJEFT01) must be associated with a User ID that has a valid TSO segment. If the TSO segment is missing, the task abends with S66D RC8.

Resolution

Install the correcting IBM PTF or apply the security workaround described below.

Fix

Install IBM PTF UJ99838 (APAR OA69551) to resolve the underlying environmental issue. See IBM Support for details.

Workaround

If the PTF cannot be applied immediately, add a TSO segment to the User ID assigned to the OPS/MVS OSF TSO tasks:

1. Identify the User ID associated with the OSF tasks (e.g., ####ID).
