Error: "Re-authenticate - operation failed please check details" in TCA for Vcenter

Issue/Introduction

In VMware Telco Cloud Automation (TCA), infrastructure management operations fail when targeting a specific vCenter Server instance.

• UI or task log errors output: Re-authenticate - operation failed please check details
  

• TCA fails to communicate with or push updates to the designated vCenter deployment.

Environment

TCA 3.4.0.1

Cause

The secure communication channel and  trust relationship between the vCenter Server and Telco Cloud Automation have broken leading to API authentication failures.

Resolution

To restore communication, the trust infrastructure must be re-initialized and re-authenticated via an exchange of a One-Time Password (OTP) secret and a new TLS handshake.

1. Log in to the Telco Cloud Automation Manager (TCA-M) web console.
   
   
2. Navigate to Administration > TCA Control Plane
   
   
3. From the TCA Control Plane tab, click on Pair with TCA-CP.
   
   
4. Click on Initiate Pairing from the Select Pairing Approach pop-up window and click Next
   
   
5. Enter the requested specification:
   
   
   1. The OTP Secret will be automatically generated.
      
      
   2. Add the TCA-M URL to initiate connectivity and click on Validate Connectivity to validate. Check the certificate and click Yes to validate.
      
      
   3. (Optional) TCA-M TLS Certificate: This will populate automatically if the TCA-M URL is successfully validated and the certificate is not already trusted.
