Reusing a database for Autosys installation by deleting schema and objects

Issue/Introduction

This article provides guidance on whether an existing database instance can be reused for a new Autosys installation by deleting schemas and objects instead of dropping and recreating the entire database.

 

Environment

• Autosys Workload Automation 12.x / 24.x
• Oracle Database

Resolution

Reusing an existing database instance for a clean Autosys installation is supported without dropping and recreating the entire database software. To ensure a successful installation, the Database Administrator (DBA) must perform the following actions:

1. Drop all existing Autosys schemas.
2. Remove all database objects associated with the previous installation.
3. Delete all files associated with the prior instance.

Once these elements are removed, the Autosys installer can proceed with a clean installation using the existing database software.
