Issue/Introduction

While trying to upgrade from 14.0 to 15.1, job BDCUSUPG abend numerous times with the following error:

DB00205E - MULTI-USER ERROR - 1093 MULTIPLE MUF'S THIS CXX NAME

Resolution

From the CA Datacom/DB Message Reference Guide:

Explanation: This MUF is being enabled in the same z/OS SYSPLEX as another MUF using the same CXX. This is likely an error and could lead to data corruption. The optional text data contains MULTIPLE MUF'S THIS CXX NAME.

User Response: If the situation is not planned and another MUF is enabled, then this error prevented a problem from occurring. If your requirements force having multiple MUFs enabled in the SYSPLEX with the same Directory (CXX) and you understand all of the ways this can cause data corruption, then the MUF startup option X_CXX_ALLOW_SHARING must be set to YES.

In general, this error is usually the result of an error, and the user should check their DBSIDPR values to ensure that every MUF (or MUF pair, in the case of a primary MUF/Shadow MUF combination) has a unique CXXname.

Additional Information

To see all of the MUFs on a given LPAR, a DBUTLTY REPORT MEMORY=MVS should help in resolution. It will tell which other MUFs are enabled and which one is conflicting by looking at the CXXNAME values they have.
