Issue/Introduction

HCX is unable to initiate or complete Site Pairing with a destination HCX Manager that does not have a NSX Manager registered with it.  During the pairing attempt, you encounter the following error message in the user interface:

Site pairing with HCX Manager is not permitted without registering a valid NSX Manager. Register the NSX Manager in the Appliance Management (:9443) interface at the destination HCX Manager and retry.

Cause

The destination environment lacks a registered NSX Manager. Registering a valid NSX Manager at the destination site is a mandatory product requirement for successful site pairing. The HCX Manager appliance management configuration requires these details to pass pre-pairing validation checks. Without this registration, the connection request is rejected because HCX fundamentally relies on NSX at the destination for network extension and workload mobility operations.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, NSX Manager must be registered at the destination site. Follow these steps:

  1. Ensure you install and configure NSX Manager in the destination vSphere environment.
  2. Log in to the HCX Appliance Management interface at the destination site: https://####:9443.
  3. Navigate to the system configuration settings.
  4. Register the newly installed NSX Manager by providing the required credentials and URL.
  5. Restart the HCX services if the system prompts you.
  6. Retry the HCX site pairing operation from the source site.
