Issue/Introduction

Some of the Robots in DXUIM fail to report hub metrics (QOS_POWER_STATE) correctly.

Symptoms:

  • Hub metrics (QOS_POWER_STATE) are not visible for multiple robots.

  • The QOS_POWER_STATE is actually stored in the but it is not correlated to the hub. Other metrics work and correlate correctly. For some robots QOS_POWER_STATE works properly.

  • The issue seems to be affecting new onboarded robots.

  • DX O2 shows an "Unknown" status for impacted devices.
  • Restarting the hubs/resolves the issue but the issue returns when new robots are installed and discovered.

NOTE:

The metric used for hub power state is named QOS_POWER_STATE. This metric is generated by the hub probe and is used to monitor the availability and power state of robots.

Environment

  • DX Unified Infrastructure Management (UIM) 23.4.7 and earlier
  • hub probe versions prior to 23.4.7 and earlier

Cause

A product defect (DE674916) in the hub probe prevented proper metric correlation and reporting for certain robot configurations.

Resolution

Fixed in hub release 23.4.6.1

  1. Download the updated hub probe (version 23.4.6.1 or later) from this KB
  2. Deploy the updated probe to the primary hub and impacted secondary hubs.
  3. Restart the hub probe to stabilize queues and verify metric collection.

Additional Information

This fix is included in DX UIM 23.4CU8. If a fix is needed for an earlier version, open a support with Broadcom for requesting the fix.
