Issue/Introduction

When transitioning to the new digitally-signed license format (LIC 2.0), customers and partners may encounter issues where NFR (Not for Resale) licenses fail to entitle features.

Existing NFR equivalent SKUs are not eligible for direct transition to LIC 2.0. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • NFR-ANS-VDEFEND

  • NFR-ANS-FW-ATP-B

Symptoms

  • The system reports that the license upgrade was successful, but the newly upgraded licenses are not reflecting in either the Support Portal or the Avi Cloud Console.

  • The upgrade process fails or halts with the following error message:

Error: No data available to upgrade.

Environment

  • vDefend License Hub - 5.1.2

[!IMPORTANT]

This issue is not applicable to Avi NFR licenses (NFR-ANS-VMW-ALB).

Resolution

This is a known issue and is planned to be permanently fixed in a future release.

Workaround

If you are facing entitlement or upgrade issues with a legacy NFR license, request a standard $0 trial license to restore immediate access to your features:

  1. Request a Trial: Request a $0 trial license for the standard ANS-VDEFEND SKU.

  2. Entitlement Terms: Trial licenses are valid for 90 days and support up to 5,000 cores.

  3. How to Apply: For details on requesting and deploying these licenses, visit the Broadcom Trials Program Portal.
