Issue/Introduction

  • The Edge Gateway configuration page fails to load or remains in a loading state with below error

Ip address ###.###.##.##/## is not an IP address

  • You may also see similar error

Ip address ###.###.##.## - ###.###.##.## is not an IP address

  • Provider Gateway is configured with IP Blocks.

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.6.x

Cause

The issue occurs when the Edge Gateway is configured with an Invalid Primary IP value, other than an IP Address.

For example, a single IP (###.###.##.##) was incorrectly entered or saved as a range string (`###.###.##.## - ###.###.##.##`) or it is saved as ###.###.##.##/##. Because the VCD API/UI expects a single IP format to parse the gateway's primary IP or allocation properties, it fails to process the hyphenated string, resulting in a UI crash for that specific gateway object.

Resolution

Broadcom Engineering is aware of this issue and are actively working to resolve this in a future version of VMware Cloud Director (VCD).

As a workaround, database modification is needed. Please contact Broadcom Support and note this Article ID (445299) in the problem description.
