Issue/Introduction

  • NSX Edge shows MPA (Management Plane Agent) connectivity as Down.

  • NSX Manager reports manager connectivity as Down.
  • Edge is connected to NSX port-group and running 'nsxdp-cli vswitch instance list' on the host shows the Uplink status as 'void' for the Edge VM interfaces.

    [root@####:~] nsxdp-cli vswitch instance list

Note: If the edge is not connected to NSX port-group then use 'netdbg vswitch instance list' command.

Environment

VMware NSX

Cause

The switch (N-VDS or VDS) on the host lacks an assigned physical uplink in the teaming policy. Without a valid uplink mapping, the switch cannot pass traffic out of the host, causing the Edge VM to lose connectivity to the Management Plane.

Resolution

Assign a valid physical uplink to the host switch configuration in NSX Manager.
