Issue/Introduction

This article provides guidance on configuring static routes on the Transit Gateway (TGW) and advertising to a connected T0 gateway in VCF 9, using NSX within a VPC based network deployment.

Environment

VMware NSX

Resolution

  1. Configure the static route on the TGW by navigate to NSX Manager UI under Networking > Connectivity > VPC Connectivity > Transit Gateways.

  2. Add the required static route to the appropriate TGW.

  3. Take note of which External Connection profile is assigned to the TGW.

  4. Go to NSX Manager UI under Networking > Connectivity > VPC Connectivity > External Connections.

  5. Expand the associated External Connections Profile identified in Step 3.

  6. Under Advertised Outbound Networks, ensure that External IP Blocks includes the static route network to advertise. Any networks not covered by an External IP Block will be filtered out.

  7. If no existing External IP Block covers the static route network, create a new IP block in NSX Manager UI under Networking > IP Management > IP Address Pools > IP Address Blocks.
