MAX ACID SIZE TOO SMALL error using TSSXTEND utility

Issue/Introduction

When attempting to create a new Top Secret R17 security file using the TSSXTEND utility the process fails with the error:

“MAX ACID SIZE TOO SMALL IN NEW FILE”

Cause

R16 versions of TSSMAINS and TSSXTEND were used. These do not have the automatic MAXACIDSIZE default as described below.

Resolution

If creating a copy of the TSS databases on R16 for use on R17, MAXACIDSIZE(2048) needs to be specified in the CAKOJCL0 SECPARM member before running TSSMAINS. While this parameter can be removed for R17, it needs to be specified when using R16 versions of the TSS programs as the R16 version default is MAXACIDSIZE(1024).

Note that the Top Secret database is forward and backward compatible from R16 to R17 and from R17 to R16 and no conversion or migration of Top Secret R16 databases is required when upgrading to Top Secret R17. The transition to 2048 is automatically performed by the Top Secret product when upgrading to R17 using the R16 security file or with a new security file.
