Issue/Introduction

Metrics, such as CPU and Availability, are automatically switching to 1-hour aggregated data when the selected time range exceeds 24 hours.

Customer requirements are that the aggregation level should not change automatically unless the selected time range exceeds 30 days.

Can this be adjusted and, if so, what configuration changes are required?

Environment

DX NetOps CAPM all currently supported releases

Cause

Unless the user has the role right "Run Dashboard At Higher Resolution", the default transition to "As Polled" is 24 hours (one day).

This is standard behaviour. At 24 hrs, without the High Resolution Role Right, we switch to hourly. At 14 days we switch to daily.

Resolution

The data is kept in the DB, but you would need to have a role with Run Dashboard At Higher Resolution added to it (we recommend you don't allow everyone to see 30 days of as polled due to performance load).

By default, no users or roles have this right. You must manually add it to a role and then ensure the user is assigned to that role.

You can do this as follows:

  1. Log in to the DX NetOps Portal as an Administrator.

  2. Navigate to Administration > User Settings > Roles.

  3. Edit an existing role (e.g., a custom Operator or Power User role) or click New to create a custom role.

    • Note: You cannot modify the predefined "admin" administrator account directly; you should clone it or use a custom role for specific users.

  4. In the Role Rights section, locate the Run Dashboards at Higher Resolution right (Should be under DX NetOps):

  5. Move the role to the Selected Rights column and click on OK.

  6. Click Save.

  7. Verify the user is assigned to this role:

    • Navigate to Administration > User Settings > Users.
    • Select the target user and click Edit.
    • In the Role dropdown, ensure the role you just modified (or created) is selected for that user.
    • Click Save.

Then change the view to use 5 min resolution for user, and then you can see up to 30 days in a row of data. We keep the last 45 days of as-polled by default.
