The availability of the Renew action is governed by three primary criteria: the origin of the failure, the job status classification and configuration policy settings.
1. Agent-Reported Failures vs. Infrastructure Errors
- Renewable (Failures): A job is renewable if a failure status is successfully reported back by the SD Agent. This indicates the job reached the target machine and execution was attempted but failed.
- Non-Renewable (Errors): If a job fails during the initial setup or environment creation stage (e.g., download failure, internal manager error) before it reaches the agent, it is categorized as an "Error." Infrastructure errors do not support the Renew action because execution never officially began on the target.
2. 'Interpret Already Installed' Policy
A specific configuration policy can suppress the "Failed" status, thereby removing the Renew option:
- Control Panel \ Configuration \ Software Job Management \ Job Handling \ Interpret "already installed" failure as successful. If enabled, any job that fails because the software is already present will be marked as Success (green check). Because the final state is 'Success,' the "Renew" option is suppressed.
