Issue/Introduction

Dollar Universe upgrade finishes successfully, but the node fails to start. This issue occurs when the node binaries are updated but the underlying data files remain on the previous version due to path permissions or connectivity issues.

Additional Information:

-Dollar Universe nodes are in cluster node

-The shared drive used by the data directory of the Dollar Universe was stopped/unreachable

Environment

  • Product: Dollar Universe Application Server (Node)
  • OS: Windows (Cluster)
  • Versions: Upgrading to v6.10.10x or v7.x

Cause

Cluster/Shared Data: In a Windows Cluster environment, the shared Dollar Universe data directory is not reachable or available during the binary upgrade, preventing the data files from being updated.

Resolution

  1. Verify that the shared Dollar Universe data directory is fully reachable.
  2. Ensure the account performing the upgrade has full read/write permissions to the shared drive.
  3. Roll back to the working version if the upgrade failed partially.
  4. Re-run the upgrade ensuring all shared resources are online and mapped correctly.
