Issue/Introduction

The current DX UIM compatibility matrix primarily lists Windows Server editions (e.g., 2019, 2022, 2025) as certified platforms. Can the DX UIM Robot be officially deployed and supported on Windows 11 64-bit desktop workstations?

Specifically:

  1. Is Windows 11 officially supported for the DX UIM Robot agent?
  2. Are there limitations compared to Server OS deployments?
  3. What level of support is provided for this configuration?

Environment

  • Operating System: Windows 11 (64-bit)
  • Software: DX UIM Robot 23.4 or higher
  • Probes: Core system probes (cdm, ntservices, processes, logmon, etc)

Cause

There are technical reasons why components other than the robot can not be installed on Desktop OS such as Windows 11.

Resolution

1. Support Status

Yes, the DX UIM Robot is supported on Windows 11. While the core compatibility matrix emphasizes Server OS for infrastructure components, Broadcom supports the lightweight Robot agent on modern Windows desktop operating systems for monitoring purposes.

2. Limitations and Requirements

  • Agent Only: Windows 11 is supported for the Robot role only. You cannot install a DX UIM Hub, Primary Server, or Operator Console (OC) on a desktop operating system.
  • Technical Reason: Desktop operating systems have internal TCP/IP connection limits and are not optimized for the high-volume message routing required by a UIM Hub.
  • Probe Compatibility: Standard system-monitoring probes (such as cdm, ntservices, processes, and logmon) are validated to gather local health metrics on Windows 11.

3. Level of Assistance

Broadcom provides standard technical support for Robots running on Windows 11 as long as the OS version is currently supported by Microsoft. If a defect is encountered, Broadcom Support and Engineering will investigate it according to standard support policies.
