Issue/Introduction

In the Automic Web Interface (AWI), users encounter visual glitches and input rejection when editing fields in the Response tab of a REST job object. Specific behaviors include:

  • Input Reset: When attempting to append text to an existing value (e.g., changing Value# to Value#abc), the field may immediately reset to the original value or close the input box.
  • Character Deletion: Leading ampersands (&) entered at the beginning of a field are immediately deleted.
  • Visual Flashing: When deleting characters, the previous string briefly "flashes" before reverting to the shortened or original version.

Environment

  • Product: Automic Web Interface (AWI)
  • Version: 24.4.4 and older
  • Component: Integration.REST (IG-REST) 24.2.0 / ECC-AE-SHEET-IG-REST
  • Browser: Multiple (Edge/Chrome/Firefox)

Cause

This issue is currently under investigation by Engineering. It appears to be a UI validation regression related to how the AWI processes special characters (such as # and &) within the grid-view of the REST Response tab.

In newer Integration.REST versions, the ampersand (&) is often implied for variable names, and manual entry may trigger a validation conflict that resets the field.

Resolution

Resolution

While a permanent fix is being evaluated for a future service pack (DE205169).

Component: Integration REST Agent

Integration REST Agent 24.2.1 - Available

Workaround

  1. Implicit Variables: Do not manually add a leading ampersand (&) to the Output Name field. The IG-REST agent handles the variable prefixing internally.
  2. External Editing: If the UI is consistently rejecting inputs, try the following:
    • Copy the desired text from a notepad and paste it directly into the field.
    • Press Enter immediately after pasting to commit the change before the UI cycle resets the field.
  3. Browser Cache: Clear the browser cache or use an Incognito/Private window to ensure no legacy AWI CSS/JS files are interfering with the rendering.
