Datacom Datacom/AD CA 7 Workload Automation

Issue/Introduction

Users may need to verify if their CA 7 Datacom tables are current, especially after applying maintenance or performing environment upgrades. Symptoms of uncertainty include:

  • Questioning if specific tables are missing or require modifications.
  • Needing to prove that the database structure matches the installed maintenance level.

Resolution

There is no single automated utility report that displays the exact version level of your Datacom database definitions. Verification is performed by confirming the successful execution of installation jobs and MUF connectivity, or through manual auditing.

Basic Verification

Shell Database Verification

  • Job: AL2DCA30 defines the initial Datacom/AD database, using member AL2BTG (from the CAL2OPTN library) to define the eight data files (areas) and dummy tables.
  • Verification: Successfully connecting to the Datacom/AD Multi-User Facility (MUF) indicates the shell database is operational and current.

Operating Environment Table Verification

  • Job: AL2DCA40 utilizes member AL2TRSLM (from the CAL2OPTN library) to define tables and columns.
  • Verification: If the installation job AL2DCA40 was completed successfully, your operating environment is current. Note that while AL2TRSLM is rarely changed by R&D, subsequent PTFs may introduce new tables.
