Issue/Introduction

In VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9.1, you may need to gracefully power off or power on your VCF Automation components during maintenance windows, datacenter moves, or troubleshooting scenarios.

The procedure for managing the power state of deployment components has changed in the user interface starting with VCF 9.1 compared to older versions (such as VCF 9.0). This article provides the updated steps to execute a power off or power on operation directly through the VCF Operations interface.

Environment

  • VCF Automation 9.1

Cause

The user interface pathways and operational workflow definitions have been updated in VCF 9.1 to streamline lifecycle and fleet management operations within the consolidated VCF Management Components view.

Resolution

To power off or power on your VCF Automation component in VCF 9.1, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to VCF Operations at the https://<vcf_operations_fqdn> URL as a user with the Administrator role.

  2. Navigate to Build > Lifecycle > VCF Management Components.

  3. Select the Components tab.

  4. Locate the VCF Automation component that you want to start or stop, and click on it to open its details.

  5. Click the ellipsis (Action) icon and select either Power off or Power on based on your required task.
