Issue/Introduction

When attempting to add a second (replica) node to VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) for a High Availability (HA) configuration, the deployment fails. Administrators will observe a "lifecycle error" indicating that the system is unable to find the offline depot for package deployment.

Additionally, secondary symptoms such as password validation issues may occur when attempting to take a vCenter snapshot following the failed node addition.

Environment

VCF Operations 9.x 

Cause

The VCF node deployment fails because the system is unable to locate the software depot required for package deployment.

The environment is configured for an online depot, but the connection state is "disconnected," preventing the system from retrieving the necessary installation images.

Resolution

• Obtain a new activation code/token for the software depot.

• 
• 

• Access the SDDC Manager interface and navigate to the software depot configuration settings.

• Apply the new activation code to re-authenticate and configure the software depot.

• Verify that the software depot status changes from "disconnected" to "connected mode."

• Once the depot is successfully connected, re-attempt the deployment to add the replica data node for HA operations.
