Issue/Introduction

After upgrading Operations to 9.1, the Identity Broker (vIDB) 9.1 upgrade pre-check fails. You may observe the following Platform Health Check Error:

[platform-opsmgmt-dns : lookup <FQDN_decommissioned_Fleet_Management> on ####: no such host] [VCFMS-HEALTH-002]

This error references an old Fleet Management appliance that was decommissioned as part of the VCF Operations upgrade.

Environment

  • VCF Operations 9.1
  • Identity Broker 9.1
  • Fleet Management 9.0.2

Cause

The upgrade pre-check for the Identity Broker DNS lookup on the decommissioned Fleet Management FQDN fails because the DNS entry for the decommissioned Fleet Management 9.0.2 appliance was removed.

Resolution

The decommissioned Fleet Management 9.0.2 appliance FQDN DNS entry must exist and be resolvable during the upgrade pre-check. You can safely remove the DNS entry again after the upgrade is fully complete.

To resolve this issue, complete the following steps:

  1. Add the DNS entry for the decommissioned Fleet Management 9.0.2 appliance back into your DNS server configuration.

  2. Run the upgrade pre-check again.
