Issue/Introduction

  • A segment configured with an L2 Bridge is connected to the target Tier-1 gateway.
  • One of the Edge nodes providing the L2 Bridge service is in a down/stopped state.
  • From the NSX Manager UI, the following behavior can be observed: The Edge node for the L2 Bridge is in an "Unknown" state, causing the overall Tier-1 status to also show as "Unknown".
  • The following log entries can be verified in /var/log/syslog on the NSX Manager:
    <Timestamp> <NSX_Manager_Hostname> NSX <pid> - [nsx@6876 comp="nsx-controller" level="INFO" subcomp="realization"] For entity <Tier-1_UUID>, disconnected receivers include [<Edge_For_L2_Bridge_UUID>].

Environment

VMware NSX

Cause

When a segment configured with an L2 Bridge is connected to a Tier-1 gateway, the status of the Tier-1 gateway is displayed in a consolidated manner that incorporates the status of the Edge node associated with the L2 Bridge.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, you must fix the underlying problem with the Edge node associated with the L2 Bridge.
